Kendriya Vidyalaya Ganeshkhind was established in 1973 as a Defence Sector School.

The school is housed in an 'A' type building built in 1982. At present the enrolment of the school is 1456 as on 30th . NOV. 2011. The school boasts of three well-equipped laboratories and a large well-stocked library with 13072 books and magazines. The school has been recently declared a 'Model School' and has a full-fledged Computer Department for the senior classes. It also has a Junior Science Laboratory and a fully equipped audio-visual laboratory, a, well-developed basketball court and a children's, park for primary students.

The school boasts of well-qualified staff. The school is looked upon for guidance in matters concerning Communicative Language Teaching. The Vidyalaya Management Committee takes great interest in school affairs and has instituted trophies for Creative Science Projects. The school also conducts AIDS awareness campaigns and has an Eco and Nature Club. The school has a Guidance and Counseling Cell, which lends its mite to the task of fully developing the personality of the students as well as giving career guidance. The school has completed 30 years of meritorious service to society and produced upright and honest citizens including professionals like doctors, lawyers, engineer’s architects, management personnel etc
